Malaria Vectored Vaccine Consortium

The Malaria Vectored Vaccines Consortium (MVVC) is a partnership of four African and four European institutions. It has two related objectives:

  1. To develop a malaria vaccine for use by populations where malaria is endemic
  2. To build research capacity in endemic countries, and improve networking of its partners

The malaria vaccine being evaluated should be safe, non-reactogenic, effective, and affordable. The current vaccine is incorporated into a recombinant adenovirus vector.
Capacity to conduct clinical research to the highest standards is being strengthened at the African sites where the vaccine trials will be carried out. Improved networking will be between partners of the Consortium as well as with established networks.

MVVC is funded by the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) and coordinated by the European Vaccine Initiative (EVI).
